Public Short Courses

These popular courses are specifically tailored for finance professionals and are delivered by highly qualified academic lecturers who have at least ten years industry experience at a senior level. Topical and frequently updated, these courses are designed for executives who are time poor but need to keep abreast of finance issues and developments in their field of expertise. They also provide the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals in a professional education environment. Most courses require some pre-reading and come with a full set of printed course notes. These will assist you in the learning process and allows the knowledge and skills you acquire to benefit you, your work colleagues and your career.

In 2011, for the first time, MAFC offered a new Mastering Financial Risk series. This new Risk series provided a comprehensive overview on all the important dimensions of risk (risk governance, market, credit and operational).

For your convenience Sydney-based courses are delivered at MAFC, 10 Spring St, Sydney (near Australia Square) and Melbourne-based courses are delivered at Cliftons, 440 Collins St, Melbourne.

MAFC Executive Training

MAFC delivers one of the largest Master of Applied Finance Program in the world and is Australia's first educational partner of the CFA Institute. We regularly refine a selection of our electives to provide specially tailored in-house courses for financial institutions. We also deliver Graduate Induction Programs that can be adapted to meet your specific educational requirements. Our clients believe that In-house courses can be particularly cost effective and allow defined education outcomes to be met within a specific timeframe. Case studies of your choice can be included and courses can be delivered at your premises if required.

To date MAFC has successfully delivered in-house courses to employees of: ANZ, Hua Xia Bank, Macquarie Group Limited, National Australia Bank, NabCapital, Western Australia Treasury Corporation, Royal Bank of Scotland and others.

We have also delivered public courses in partnership with the Professional Risk Managers International Association (PRMIA). Members of The Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAA) also attend our courses.

CFA Continuing Education Provider

MAFC Executive Training has become the first approved CFA Continuing Education Provider in Australia and many of our courses are recognised as CFA Qualified Activities. This means that if you are a CFA Institute member and you attend one of these courses, continuing education credit points for your participation will be automatically recorded in your CFA CE diary.

RG146 Compliance Gap Training Program

The Applied Finance Centre now offers an in-house short course for graduates and current students of the Macquarie University Applied Finance Program who intend to provide financial product advice in the Australian regulated marketplace. This course is designed to cover material that is not specifically addressed within the framework of the Masters program, to allow graduates to meet the requirements of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
