Career Prospects
After you gain the Master of Applied Finance degree and provided you do well at your studies, there should be career opportunities for you. People are not only selected because of their qualifications, so your other attributes will play an important part in any job selection process.
Whether you are returning to your home country or are able to take up residency in Australia, you will find that this degree, in combination with your background, will greatly improve your career and promotional prospects. Macquarie University has a Career Development Office where you can find out more about career prospects in Australia. You can also check our Careers page.
Initial employment search should be ongoing whilst you study and you can devote more time to it after graduating. Developing good networking relationships with other students already employed in the field can also be extremely helpful.
Returning home before graduation
Many international students must leave Sydney before they graduate. To help you seek employment while you wait to receive your transcript, we can give you an official letter detailing that you are about to graduate from the full time Master’s program, and your grades. Please ask the staff at either the City or Campus Office for this document. You also need to complete a Change of Personal Information form advising your new contact and permanent address details.
The Graduation Unit will write to you when you have qualified. Please note that you can elect to attend the formal graduation ceremony (visa permitting) in either: Sydney, Melbourne, Beijing, Hong Kong or Singapore when they are next scheduled. Please visit the Graduation Unit webpage for further information.
