Overview

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) Policy Statement 146 (PS146/RG146) details a set of minimum standards to which advisers must be trained. This policy applies to all natural persons who provide (or intend to provide) financial product advice within the Australian regulated marketplace. Advisers must demonstrate competency in the areas in which they provide advice.

Course Information

Graduates and current students of the Macquarie University Applied Finance Program who wish to provide financial product advice may meet ASIC’s requirements by undertaking 'gap' training to cover material that is not specifically addressed within the framework of the Masters program. To address this gap, the Applied Finance Centre now offers a short course which we call PS146/RG146 Compliance Gap Training Program. Successful completion of this gap training short course will allow graduates and current students to demonstrate competency in a range of knowledge areas.

Please Note: this gap training short course is only offered to graduates or students of the Macquarie University Master of Applied Finance who completed the core units after 1 January 1995. Persons who passed the core subjects pre-1 January 1995 and who wish to meet ASIC’s requirements, please contact Short Courses on .

If you are overseas or cannot attend the PS146/RG146 Compliance Gap Training program and have at least 5 years relevant experience in the last 8 years you may be able to complete the program by Individual Assessment. Please contact Short Courses on .

Other members of the public may not enrol in this gap course. For a list of other providers (sorted by both provider and knowledge category) please visit the ASIC's online eTraining Register.
