GradCertFin recognised prior learning
Macquarie University recognises prior learning (RPL) gained through formal studies, work experience and/or industry qualifications. In the MAFC's programs, RPL can be used to:
- satisfy entry requirements;
- reduce the number of gateway units of study; and/or
- exempt study of a required unit.
Minimum admission requirement

Applicants without a Bachelor degree may be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate of Finance. You will need to demonstrate a willingness and an ability to study and have at least five years professional work experience.
Required evidence for assessment of RPL for admission without a degree
You must provide the following additional documentation:
- Resume
- Proof of Citizenship or Residency Status (i.e. passport) – certified copy
- Personal Written statement PDF, 498.09 KB – (Download for completion, word limit 350 words).
- Summary of Project/Tasks PDF, 554.54 KB (Download for completion, word limit 700 words)
- Proof of employment and
verification of length of service:
- Letter from employer OR
- A current payslip and a copy of any of either the letter of job offer or employment contract
Assessment Process
The assessment process for recognition of work experience for entry is evidence based.
Applicants who fail to address or demonstrate the outcome criteria detailed above through their work experience and training programs will not be awarded recognition of prior learning for entry to the Graduate Certificate.
