Master of Applied Finance

This program is for experienced professionals, whether currently in the finance industry or in other professions wanting to transition to the finance sector (such as engineers, lawyers, or IT specialists). Your studies can be generalist in nature or can be structured to develop specialised knowledge in a sharply focused field.

Entry requirements
The minimum entry requirements for the Master of Applied Finance are:
- A Bachelor's degree or recognised equivalent, and
- Two years’ relevant professional work experience*
Applicants whose prior degree is not in a finance/business discipline will need to study up to 4 gateway units.
All applicants for graduate coursework studies at Macquarie University are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English. For more information see English Language Requirements.
Duration of study
Macquarie’s recognition of prior learning via formal studies, work experience, training programs and industry accredited qualifications, may satisfy admission requirements to a program and/or reduce the number of gateway units of study.
The minimum time to complete the standard MAppFin is 1.5 years full-time equivalent. With full credit for recognised prior learning, the minimum time to complete is 1 year full-time equivalent.

In the granting of admission or credit on the basis of work experience a number of factors will be considered, including: the number of years of work experience; how current that experience is; its relevance to the finance industry and/or the applicant's prior degree; and the type of role(s) the applicant has undertaken. Professional work experience could include roles requiring technical or specialist expertise, or managerial/decision-making functions.
